What Is Lawn Aerating? Do I Need It?
Most homeowners do not realize the importance of aerating your lawn on a yearly basis. During our dry summers in Eastern Washington, the dry heat can dry out your lawn's soil. Compact soil stunts root growth and discourages new grass growth. By aerating your lawn, you are opening the soil up to allow water, oxygen, nitrogen and other crucial elements to reach the roots of your existing grass. This allows your grasses roots to grow deeper, and result in healthy lawn turf. Every lawn should be aerated at least once a year to promote general turf health. We recommend clients aerate their lawns twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. Your lawn may need to be aerated in the summer months, and we can gladly do that for you! Fertilizer will almost always have a more profound effect on your lawn if applied after aerating.
